Black Friday 2022 is your time to buy the gaming laptop you’ve been eyeing all year. It’s good they’ve started early too. After all, gamers aren’t often described as “patient.”

HP Victus — $950, was $1,300

The HP Victus 15 gaming laptop against a white backdrop.

The HP Victus 15 is an interesting laptop to see during these Black Friday gaming laptop deals; it has a rather unassuming look and price, yet it still manages to pack a punch under its rather minimalist exterior. This model comes equipped with an RTX 3050, which can easily handle a 60 frames per second experience. While the screen is only FHD, it can hit 144Hz refresh rates, which is great for FPS and action games.. You also get a 12th-gen Intel i7-12700H, a 14-core CPU, and 16GBs of RAM, which is slightly on the lower side in this day and age, but still manageable. The typing is also pretty good, as is the touchpad, although it’s offset to the left a little, so if you’re left-handed, it may be a bit annoying.

Dell G15 Gaming Laptop — $900, was $1,100

The Dell G15 gaming laptop on a white background.

If you’re looking for the best Black Friday laptop deals in the budget range, then this Dell G15 gaming laptop is where it’s at these days. The G15 is a bit of a workhorse in the gaming laptop market; with an FHD, 120Hz running an RTX 3050 Ti, it can handle quite a few modern games on medium settings without fuss. It also runs the powerful 12th-gen Intel i5-12500H, which is great for gaming and general productivity work, so if you’re looking for something versatile, this is a great option. The RAM is on the lower end with 8GBs, and the battery life isn’t the best, even for a gaming laptop, but with 512GB SSD storage, you’re unlikely to need external hard drive deals to boost your space. So even though the G15 is a laptop of compromises, it’s still an excellent gaming laptop for the price tag.

Legion 5 Gen 7 — $1,100, was $1,400

The new Lenovo Legion gaming laptop.

You’ll find many similarities between the Legion 5 Gen 7 and the Legion 5 Pro, with the main difference being that the Legion 5 Gen 7 has a lower resolution FHD screen yet still manages a 165Hz refresh rate. Otherwise, it still has the same sort of great typing experience, good battery life, and sleek but minimalist design that doesn’t make it look out of place in an office. Under the hood, you get an RTX 3050 Ti which is reasonably powerful, and an AMD Ryzen 5 6600H, an excellent mid-range CPU that gives you some versatility for gaming and productivity. You also get 16GB of RAM, which is about the minimum that we’d expect in a $1,000+ gaming laptop, and the 512GB SSD will likely last you a while with a bit of app management, although an external hard drive will certainly help if you don’t have a great cloud storage solution.

MSI Stealth 17.3-inch — $1,500, was $1,800

We’re so impressed with the MSI Stealth that we stuck it on our roundup of the best 17-inch laptops, and while this version isn’t quite as powerful as that one, the lower specs mean a better price while still getting an RTX 3060. With an FHD and 144Hz refresh monitor, the RTX 3060 will handle most modern games, at the very least with medium settings, and will easily blow most free-to-play games out of the water. The 12th-gen Intel i7-12700H is also incredibly impressive and allows you to get away with a lot, including some potential steaming to Twitch or YouTube if you want to go down that road. You also get 16GB of RAM and a much more impressive 1TB SSD to work with, so if you want to play Warzone, you don’t have half your storage gone, but only a quarter. Battery life is pretty good for a 17-inch  laptop, and the larger size means you get a larger keyboard, although there is some extra space MSI could have used on either side for a larger keyboard or more speakers, which is a bit of waste.

Alienware m15 R5 Ryzen Edition — $1,500, was $2,450

Alienware M15 R5 gaming laptops on white background.

Much like Alienware’s AMD take on the Aurora that gave us the Aurora R10 Ryzen Edition, we have its take on the G15 with the M15 R5 Ryzen edition, an excellent version of a workhorse laptop that we don’t often see. If you’re looking for some of the best gaming laptop deals that pack a punch, the m15 does with an RTX 3070 under the hood and a 15.6-inch FHD 360Hz refresh rate monitor. Given the lower resolution and higher refresh rate, the RTX 3070 can easily handle even the latest games at high settings. Combined with the Ryzen 9 5900HX, a high-end CPU, you get one of the nicest experiences on a gaming laptop. Battery life is also surprisingly good, which is likely helped by the more efficient Ryzen 9, and the keyboard is a joy to use, not to mention the whole thing looks like it came right out of Tron, so if you want that modern cyberpunk look, you got it!

MSI Vector — $1,900, was $2,300

This MSI Vector is likely one of the best gaming laptops you’ll find going for under $2k, and we say that because it runs an RTX 3070 Ti under the hood. Looking at the specific RTX 3070ti power consumption and comparing it to the Vector, the GPU isn’t power-throttled, so you’re essentially getting the full performance. But, of course, that does come with some downsides, such as mediocre battery life and the need always to plug it in when playing, but that’s the cost of grabbing a high-end gaming laptop. Luckily it does make up for it with other excellent specifications, such as a powerful 12th-gen Intel Core i7-12800HX, a whopping 32GB of RAM, and 1TB of SSD space, all of which are well above average when it comes to gaming laptop specs, and the fact you can get it all for less than $2k is a steal.
